Why SHOULD WE Even Bother
The United Arab Emirates imports roughly 80% to 85% of its total fresh produce consumption. Between 2.8 and more than 3 million metric tonnes of fresh fruits and vegetables are brought into the country each year. Over 180 countries supply produce to the United Arab Emirates.
Sovereign and sustainable agriculture is critical for the United Arab Emirates to insulate its food supply against global geopolitical and climate shocks while conserving its severely depleted freshwater reserves through a climate-resilient, localised agricultural sector.
Greenland is here to address this challenge.
